The shape of nature
This series came about as part of a project whilst studying where we were asked to photograph a black and white set of 15 images which followed a theme or idea. I chose to use macro photography to explore the texture, structure and form of natural objects. A particular emphasis was given to subjects featuring geometry, symmetry and the Fibonacci sequence in their structures. As an extension of the idea I created a series of compositions which arrayed my photographs in grids, using contrast and negative space to create dynamic shapes which link up from image to image to create larger unique images.
A video sequence showcasing the images. Set to Teardrop by Massive Attack (the artwork for their ‘98 album Mezzanine was part of my inspiration for this series).
